I craft

―

I love making, creating, and crafting art. I grew up in the environment that was encouraging me and my sisters to be expressive with art. Our room was always full of colorful origami papers, paint brushes, plain white papers, and still is. Art is like a refuge in my mind. Even though my finished projects may not look good, I adore how much it gives me so much comfort. I still tend to create art whenever I have nothing specific to do.

For these last two weeks, on every Saturdays, I have been crafting in my room. It is very ironic to see how fleeting the time is when I am into my crafts compared to the time I get my stuffs done...... Stuffs like test preparation, homework, study plans, blahblah...

On the 2-weeks-ago Saturday, I made bookmarks out of the bouquet of roses I received from my parents. They handed me the loveliest bunch of flowers with the most meaningful gift I have ever received in my entire life- a ring from my grandma.
I really wanted to express my appreciation and love to my family so I picked up some rose petals and put them in my big ol' SAT book.

After few days, little rose petals dried completely enough like a thin paper. And I got all my stuffs ready! I sat on the floor for 4 hours straight crafting my gifts for my family.

At the end, my fingers were sticky with glue and my butts really ache, but it was worthy! I laminated these bookmarks with thin plastic layer to secure them from tearing apart.

This is how my rose petal bookmarks turned out!

I decided to cut the petals into little tulip shape cause as they dried in the thickest book I own, their shaped got quite odd. After gluing the roses on the paper circles, I drew different face expressions for each flower. Then I just simply decorated the rest of the bookmarks with fun bright colors!

I also thought it would be cuter and 'more like a bookmark' if I would write some inspirational quotes at the back.

I gave these little presents to my sisters, parents and my aunt. That feeling when you see their smiles appearing as they received it :D

For the rest of the roses I got......
I decided to dry them as well to hang on the wall. A perfect decoration with sense of vintage to spice up my room.

On this Saturday, I made friendship bracelets/anklets.
I actually never made any before, so all I could do was look up on the internet for braids and knots.
Making bracelet/anklet turned out to be quite easy and I got obsessed!
After few hours, I ended up with more than 10 of those on my table so I needed to give them out to my family as another little gifts.

I just went with simple fishtail braids and adjustable knots.

One of the reasons why I am obsessed making this is because I love how cheery and lively they look with different pops of colors.
They also have that summer vibes and festivity.

Doing these projects for last two weekends was sooooo fun and inspirational. I really don't know what to craft next week, but can't wait to create another art in my life!

I bake

─

Baking is something that I do randomly. I usually bake cookies when I feel like it is a baking kind of day. Even though I am never a pro at it, I bake at least once in two months. I love how I get to fully focus in every steps until little pieces come out of oven. From measuring to cleaning, it allows me to have no time on anything, but only baking.

So... I baked two days ago. I didn't even plan to do it the night before cause I was busy staring at the pitch-black ceiling as everyone does. I woke up and felt like making some cookies. And I did it!

Every time I bake, I always choose two different kinds- chocolate chip cookies with madeleine or blueberry cookies with some muffins. For that day, I chose chocolate chip cookies and cranberry nuts cookies. I turned some music on, set all the ingredients , and got my camera out!
Here are some of the snaps I took for 4 hours of producing goodies.

First, I got all the ingredients out on the table for two recipes.
Opened my recipe notes,
measured sugar, butter, flour, chocolate chips, walnuts, and all the others,
started to make my cookie dough of the day.

Creamy butter: one of the most beautiful swirl in the world!

After mixing dry ingredients with wet mixture, I added dried cranberries, sliced almonds, and crushed walnuts to turn it into a yummy cookie dough.

Got my first batch line up! *make proud uh-hum sound*
I just love different pattern each piece has with colors.

And there I go, cannot stop staring into the oven until they become golden brown.
Plus, the smell of goodness all over the house! Ahhhhh!!

Yeah-hey! My first batch turned out really well.
Then I finished my second and third batches of cranberry nuts cookies.

I headed to the next cookie- chocolate chip cookies.
Of course, I nibbled on this cookie dough again.

I didn't put any chocolates on 1/4 of the cookies because my mom prefers cookies with no chocolate on. But with the 3/4, I added my lovely chocolate chips and even tried little chunks of sneakers on it. Chocolate chip cookies, ready! Yummmmmm

So, here I present to you, my result of 4-hours-baking.
Whole tray filled with two kinds of delicious goodies :-)

I also made cookie cups for the first time ever and it was a success!
Can't wait to devour icecream cookie cup with my sisters...

That day's baking turned out to be a success on both types of cookies.
But sometimes, I really mess up with the recipe and get little gloomy throughout the day. Well, that is one of the lure of baking to me. It teaches me to try something new and be proud even though there may be a bit of fail.

I hope you liked my first post about baking if there's anyone out there?

xx

I read

─

I love reading. Every person in the world reads. Among those different stuffs that we get to read (like letters, books, reading passages in typical tests, advertisements, and so on), my favorite one is (obviously) a book.

I can really say that I am a book addict. I got poor eye sight and got to wear eyeglasses at the age of 10 because I read so much.
Actually I think I read in the dark a lot......
Anyway, from the long time before my first eyeglasses, I didn't stop reading until now.

Currently, I am reading three books little by little. These three are not related to each other at all. Fortunately, they don't cause any traffic in my brain since each book tells different stories that I love.

3 books I read are:

1. The Story Of Art by E.H Gombrich
2. Kinfolk Magazine Vol. 13
3. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

I urge, The Story of Art by E.H Gombrich is a must-read book to anyone who loves Art. I read only one chapter every time I decide to read because it is overwhelmingly thick. However, despite of its thickness, this book is a genius. It was easy to understand even though I didn't know many things about art history. I;m now on the halfway of this book and can't wait to finish it!

Kinfolk Magazine has been newly added to my book collection. As a girl who loves anything about fashion, photography, food, and lifestyle, Kinfolk Magazine definitely needed in my collection. I now own 4 volumes- Vol. 10 and Vol. 13 to Vol. 15- that I feel so much satisfaction when I see them sitting in the bookshelf.

Lastly, I started to read Harry Potter all over again. This is a quite usual habit that I do every year. It never gets me tired of wondering in my magical world. Funny thing is that, sometimes my best friend also re-read Harry Potter series when I decide to read it from the top!

So why don't you grab a book from your bookshelf, dust it off, and go into it with your favorite tea next to you?
