Living in Seoul

by - 3:43:00 AM

I decided to dedicate the last post of May to where I've been living ever since
I was a little creature who loves eating and crying all day - Seoul.

So for those who are not familiar with this city I'm living in, here's what our homework best friend wikipedia says. (I just brought some brief facts)

Seoul is the capital and largest metropolis of South Korea.
It is divided into 25 districts.
Seoul has many historical and cultural landmarks
because it was the capital city since Korea's last dynasty.
It is situated on the river.

These sounds really typical, but I learned some new facts about it as I read through the whole contents and paragraphs.

Going total random here,I personally think its pronunciation is very similar to "soul".
To be honest, I dind't use to appreciate this city when I was younger.
I think I just didn't know how to enjoy the city life as a kid/teenager!
I've got plenty of pros and cons of Seoul; maybe another post to grumble about it!
So without further adieu, let me share the perks of being a seoul-er.

Places

Of course, capital city of one country should have tons of places to be!
It got almost everything I need except for Disneyland & Harry Potter Theme Park.
Another best thing is that Seoul has highly developed transportation system.
I can roam around every corners just by bus & subways.

As a huge non professional aesthete, it is the perfect place to be because
Seoul got art museums, art galleries, and all the other art related spots all over it.

Or pretty casual views for quick snaps.

We can always take a walk to nowhere for unexpected adventure.
Fresh finds of the city never fails to surprise me and remind me how much I love being here.

It is beautiful during the cold months.

And it is beautiful during the warmer and muggy days!

Nature

If you have read some of my other posts, you may have noticed my amor towards nature, especially greens.
Well, my birthplace has adequate amount of grateful oxygen producing friends.

First, bloomers are everywhere.
They are along the streets, roads and avenues.
I mean, how can someone not fall in love with these little blooming ones?

Second, turn the grass into your little sunbed and be there at the moment.
Busy city life usually enables people to forget about slow things around them.
I and my family has found some great places to see these colors we couldn't find on the tall buildings.

Last but not least, the river.
I actually live by the river that flows through Seoul- Han River.
Strolling along the river at least once a week
has become our family ritual ever since we moved here.
River breeze, city lights, busy cars, and bridges with colorful lights add irrefutable reasons to love Seoul every time I go down there.

Food

Like any other cities in the world, Seoul is a right place for foodies (like me!)
I think everything food related stuffs got much more diverse in last 5 years in Seoul. My town has been known as a core place of various foreign cultures (considering it has restaurants & shops from all over the world), so it contributed a lot to my foodie status.

Planet's favorite food!
But it was the whole atmosphere and the people around me that made these dishes even better.

Let's never forget these sweet treats.
Anyone who has been in Seoul would definitely say it has cafes & dessert places everywhere.
No one would be able to stop themselves from getting good ol' iced drinks on warm summer days or the cutest colorful sugary bakes peeking through the showcases.

Here were few perks of living in Seoul, and these were totally based upon my own perspective.
Seoul may be a tiny city where too many people squeeze to live, but it's filled with great sorts of things that hardly fail me to get bored of this city life.

As I browsed my pictures and internet for this Seoul post, I realized how much I've experienced in here, and how much I haven't ever got to do.
And now I'm adding "exploring more Seoul" to my summer break to do list.
So, what are your perks of living in your city/town?

  3. I've only learnt of Seoul in recent years, I've never really heard it mentioned until social media of course! Now, I've heard so many people rave about it and plan tripes there all time. One thing I've noticed, is that the food always looks amazing. I find that food and packing is always better in Asian countries than that in the states. I would probably just purchase something when touring Seoul just because of the packaging, haha. The landmarks look interesting, I love the architecture of the older buildings. Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you're having a great start to your day so far!
